I'm neither a Boy Scout nor a Mormon. They aren't the only ones that should BE PREPARED.

In The Dark
Yesterday the power was out in my area. I heard later that there was a fallen tree over a line. I have read the advice from other preppers that we should all try living a weekend without the luxury of power. You know, so that we can work out some of the kinks and be better prepared in case we don't have power for an extended period of time. No, thanks. Why is the lack of electricity while camping fun and no power at home a huge pain in my butt? No coffee. No music. No email. No hair dryer. I can't tell you how many times I tried turning on a light switch in a dark room yesterday. Apparently my memory is that of a fly. I smiled with relief late morning, when I heard the beep of the microwave and the familiar buzz of all the electronics when everything powered back on.
Thank you local utility company power lineman - I appreciate you.
